Germany set to supply anti-aircraft systems to Ukraine

GERMANY has pledged to supply anti-aircraft systems to Ukraine, to bolster its defences against Russian invasion.

Germany has approved the delivery of Gepard anti-aircraft systems to Ukraine, Defence Minister Christine Lambrecht said on the sidelines of an international meeting at Ramstein U.S. Air Base in Germany on Tuesday (April 26).

Germany offered the weapons to Ukraine at the meeting with allies, hosted by the United States.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, who has faced criticism at home and abroad for his government's failure to deliver heavy weapons to Ukraine, has pledged the delivery of anti-tank and anti-aircraft weapons from German military stocks, which he described as "defensive weapons."
