03.27.2019 | 1:40 AM | PLACENTIA - A suspected DUI driver who fled from police was in custody after fighting with a police dog and being shot with less-than-lethal ammunition, Wednesday morning.

Officers attempted to stop a suspected DUI driver in the city of Tustin around midnight.

The driver, who officers suspect was under the influence of a narcotic, failed to yield and led officers on a slow speed pursuit through several cities.

Eventually the suspect stopped in the area of Mira Loma and Tustin Avenue.

Still the man refused to comply with officers and a stand-off ensured.

Officers used less-than-lethal ammunition including pepperballs to entice the man to surrender. This prompted the man to exit his vehicle and climb on its roof.

A police K9 was deployed to apprehend the man who continued to fight.

Additional officers assisted the police K9 and were able to subdue the man.

Firefighter paramedics responded and transported the man to an area hospital for treatment.
