We can, therefore, write: 22 + x = 24 x = 24 – 22 x = 2 Cross check: For x = 2, The sum of the digits is, therefore: = 22 + 2 = 24 Since 24 is divisible by 3, the smallest whole number in the place of _ will be 2"
