Saab 9-3 Sleeper - Budget Big Turbo Build - Part 2
In this video I fit injectors, a walbro fuel pump, change the engine mounts and make a heat shield, and lots of other things behind the scenes that I just didnt film.
Sorry for the huge wait. My PC died twice? Then my screen broke.
Anyway, the car. I went to fit the injectors and the car wouldnt start. I thought I had the wiring wrong for a few days, spend hours troubleshooting. Eventually I started doubting the injectors despite them being brand new. After speaking with bosch and giving them the part numbers it turns out they were 172cc or something stupidly small. Anyway I bought some 875cc injectors and installed them, changed some settings in the map / tune and it fired straight up.
I went for a drive. Then the gasket blew out because when I was disassembling in part 1 one of the studs snapped inside the head and I tried to run it without, which was a stupid mistake and cost me a gasket and a lot of hours wasted. So everything had to come out again to replace that gasket.
Then I drove it, and the powersteering line blew up 3 times or so. I lost count. I am familiar with AN fittings and how to do it so I dont think I was doing anything wrong. I tried twice with the black fittings, and then spend £37 on ONE branded an fitting, but it still kept tearing the braided rubber lines where they meet the fitting. Eventually I settled with a OEM powersteering hardline, which in hindsight I should have used to begin with. I dont know why I didnt in the first place...
Then when I was driving it the car would wobble under boost, the engine felt like it was going to fall out the engine bay and the wheels wobbled so bad the steering wheel would shake out of my hands. So I changed the mounts. That shitty yellow poly mount took me at least 6 hours to make. I had to make my own centre dowel to fit the oem bolt (drilling a 10mm hole in a 5cm wide bit of steel is not fun) as well as all the cutting and welding etc.
The car is still pretty slow atm, as its pretty much untuned. Just a vague adjustment to account for the bigger injectors. Running very rich for safety whilst test driving.
Part 3 should be soon. Like a few weeks. Ive already done a few things since making this video.
