70% of Western Uganda dairy farmers need support
The Dairy Development Authority reports that about 70% of smallholder farmers in the dairy sector in western Uganda districts outside the cattle corridor, such as Bunyangabu, Kyenjojo, and Kyegewa, need urgent support, especially in areas such as animal husbandry. Moses Ahimbisibwe, the DDA regional manager for South Western Uganda, also says critical needs include on-farm financing and the availability of structures for animals, among others.
This was during a tour of one of the targeted districts, Rubirizi, in western Uganda by the DDA and Rural Initiative for Poverty Alleviation.
