Afghanistan-Pakistan Ties Nosedive; 'Taliban Has No Will For Peace', Ghani Says

New Delhi: On 'The Gist', David Loyn, Former BBC Afghanistan and India Correspondent, Former Strategic Communications Adviser to Afghan President Ashraf Ghani, Visiting Senior Fellow, War Studies Department, King's College London and author of the forthcoming Book,'The Long War:The Inside Story of America and Afghanistan since 9/11' in conversation with StratNews Global Associate Editor Amitabh P. Revi.

Three rockets landed near the Presidential Palace during Eid prayers attended by President Ashraf Ghani and other officials, even as no temporary respite from violence was reached in talks between the Republic and Taliban teams led by Dr Abdullah Abdullah and Mullah Baradar in Doha, Qatar. In Kabul, at the ceremony in the Arg, President Ghani said the “Taliban made clear many things. Mr. Abdullah told me some minutes ago that there is no will for peace in the Taliban and we should make decisions based on this.” Meanwhile, Afghanistan-Pakistan ties have plunged following accusations and counter accusations. In this interview, David Loyn analyses the situation in the Af-Pak region and what the world is doing.
