Cycling over the Swiss Alps damn near killed me

We cycled over the Swiss Alps at the start of our 2017 cycle tour. It would have been better to do it at the end, when we were a bit fitter. But the way things worked out with our housesits, we had to do it first. It was really, really tough going.

There were two big climbs - Grimsell Pass and Nufenen Pass.

We tackled most of Grimsell Pass on day 2 of our tour, sleeping at the bottom of the dam wall about 8km from the summit. On day 3 we made it to the top, but we were delayed by rain and by the time we got there we'd run out of food.

We screamed down the other side and stocked up in the town of Obergoms then started the climb up Nufenen Pass. We camped near a gorgeous little river on the way up. There was a huge colony of marmots nearby but we didn't get any footage, dammit. After dinner the neighbouring campers invited us to join them for cognac.

On day 4 we made it to the top of Nufenen Pass.
