Matt Thistlethwaite 'moved’ by Australians making Anzac Day pilgrimages
Assistant Defence and Veterans’ Affairs Minister Matt Thistlethwaite acknowledges Australians who have made Anzac Day pilgrimages to the Malaysian city of Sandakan.
Australians have travelled to attend dawn services all over the world.
“I have been very touched and moved by the raw emotion that was on display here this morning,” Mr Thistlethwaite told Sky News Australia.
“All of their descendants got the opportunity to name their relative and lay a rose at the memorial.
“They surrounded the memorial in a ring of solidarity."
