Anti-Poll Tax Riots

Lighting broke out in London during the Anti-Poll Tax march and rally in Trafalgar Square. Police were attacked as they tried to move on a group of protesters staging a sit-in at the entrance to Downing St. Mounted Police and vehicles were attacked and riot police were called in. There were 300 arrests and dozens of injuries. Police are still fighting running battles in the West End and there has been widespread looting.
