Wayde Van Niekerk is the current world record holder for the men's 400 meters. In 2016 at the Olympic Games in Rio, Van Niekerk ran a time of 43.03, breaking Michael Johnson's previous mark of 43.18 all the way back from 1999. Building up to this incredible race, Van Niekerk became the only athlete in history to:

1) Run under 10 seconds for the 100 meters
2) Run under 20 seconds for the 200 meters
and
3) Run under 44 seconds for the 400 meters

Indeed, Van Niekerk had a spectacular set of sprinting skills that led him to this fantastic world record.
