The opposition claims that because Arabs were illiterate, the debt and loan transactions recorded in the Petra Scrolls could not be related to Muslims because the Quranic verse declaring that these transactions should be recorded would render it obsolete, so the Qur'an couldn’t be addressing the people living in Petra.
