Welcome to Nice One Maths

In this video, I explained Exercise 2.1 Question 5 from 10th Standard Maths - Numbers and Sequences Lesson 2 in simple Tamil.

Topics Covered:

* Even and odd integers
* Squares of integers
* Remainders when divided by 4
* Step-by-step proof
* Easy Tamil explanation
* Samacheer Kalvi Board Exam preparation

Question:

Prove that the square of any integer leaves the remainder either 0 or 1 when divided by 4.

Solution:

Case (1)

Even integer = 2k

Square of even integer:

(2k)^2 = 4k^2

This is divisible by 4.

Therefore, remainder = 0

Case (2)

Odd integer = 2k + 1

Square of odd integer:

(2k + 1)^2

= 4k^2 + 4k + 1

= 4k(k + 1) + 1

This is divisible by 4 but leaves remainder 1.

Therefore, the square of any integer leaves remainder either 0 or 1 when divided by 4.
