The Subject is Murder: Crimes from the Gaslight Era

Join us virtually for an evening with crime-historian author E.J. Wagner, who will present a selection of Victorian true crimes investigated by early forensic science methods, including Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s involvement in some cases. We will explore the evolution of the forensic science field, learn about medicinal poisons, cross examine crimes and even discover how to resurrect someone from the afterlife.

E.J. Wagner is a crime-historian/storyteller and the author of a book of scientific entertainment entitled The Science of Sherlock Holmes which was published by John Wiley & Sons and won the 2007 Edgar® award for the Best Critical/Biographical Book published in 2006. E. J.’s audiences will recognize her scientific and sardonic approach to the history of forensic science among its descriptions of true cases and famous figures.
