Geekom GT1 Mega intel U9 185H 32GB RAM 2TB SSD Unboxing and Teardown

This looks like a promising larger and original design from Geekom compared to their typical smaller NUC size mini pc to accomodate the powerful intel series 1 processors. It offers really clean aesthetics, compact power supply, high end prebuilt components like brand name crucial RAM, crucial P3 SSD, and intel BE200 wifi 7 wireless card with bluetooth 5.4.

The internal teardown is another story as Geekom covers the access screws with rubber sticker pads which will lose adhesion over time, and a very tight assembly. Buyers will have to go into this computer to upgrade the RAM and use the secondary m.2 2242 sata iii storage drive. It is definitely doable but I would really like a pull tab for removing the bottom cover and easier antenna cable management for disassembly.

I do want to see more Geekom mini pc out there. They are one of the few brands offering 30 day free returns and a 3 year warranty which really should be the normal for all mini pc.

Lastly, the price is very high, being close to $1000 USD ($980 at the time of writting). This is going to turn a number of buyers away from this mini pc until they come down in price. It is a very premium and professional feeling mini pc so I assume Geekom is targeting the enterprise and professional buyers over general consumer buyers. Similar performance of this mini pc can likely be achieved for a couple hundred less wity a AMD Zen 4 mini pc so long as corners are cut with brand name parts and shorter warranty. People that are especially min/maxing for a dedicated GPU are definitely going to complain about the pricing but they are a different breed of computer that are larger and use more power that isn't as true to the mini PC ideals.

Assuming I don't die to some unknown illness, I will follow up with synthetic testing on the data sheet below in a future video:
