"Ladies in Lavender" recorded during Lockdown in South Africa - 25 April 2020

This beautiful piece of music by Nigel Hess (arranged by South African composer, Niel van der Watt) was recorded on 24 and 25 April 2020 during Stage 5 of Lockdown in Pretoria and Centurion, South Africa. The whole world came to a standstill due to Covid-19 and the Coronavirus. Hard to believe this virus caused literally no traffic, no aeroplanes and forced schools and universities to close.

Almost every business was forced to shut down during this scary time - and it happened in all the countries in the whole wide world. Only food, medicine and petrol was available to "shop".

We were not even allowed to walk our pets. Wearing face masks in public will be compulsory in future. Life will certainly never be the same after and if we (the whole world) can beat this virus!

Musicians especially suffered as all our rehearsals, concerts, tours, competitions etc were cancelled within a few days - the one moment your diary was fully booked ... the next everything is wiped for weeks in advance!

A lot of music videos saw the light during this period, as everybody would love to start performing again. No one knows how long this pandemic will last. But recording accompaniment without a soloist and vice versa is one really big challenge!
