Blue Mountain & Reading Grand Opening (1985)

This is a copy of a copy of footage I edited from the Grand Opening of the Tourist Passenger Service on the Blue Mountain & Reading Railroad on July 13, 1985. It featured the Royal Hudson Steam Locomotive CP #2839 traveling from Temple Station and a pair of freshly-painted CF7 diesel locomotives #600 and #601 from South Hamburg, Pa. Both passenger train consists met at Leesport, Pa. for the golden spike ceremonies. The siding at Leesport, Pa. was about as far as the Royal Hudson traveled that day under its own power. It had to be towed the rest of the way to South Hamburg by the Blue Mountain & Reading EMD NW-2 switcher diesel #413.
