Is the Philippines too dirty and poor to live in?

Hey y'all! I've been thinking about this for a while and wanted to make a video on it.
Basically, my niece's parents want her to study in the Philippines for one year before she completes her college degree, but my niece is SO ADAMANTLY against it.
I think for all Filipino-Americans this perception of the Philippines as a dirty place or only a vacation destination is very strong and I wanted to dive into it as someone who HAD this perception and ended up living there and have come to love it.

To my Filipino Americans out there, do you feel the same way? Have you thought of spending time in the Philippines and connecting with your culture, or has your thoughts about our homeland shifted?
