The Voice Of Germany: My Blind Audition Story

Before I was in musicals…
I was on ‘The Voice of Germany’.

Before I ever stepped into the world of Hamilton or MJ The Musical, I ended up on one of the biggest TV stages in Germany—without ever planning to.

I’d only auditioned for a casting show once before, and honestly, it wasn’t really my thing. But then came the first season of The Voice of Germany in 2011—and everything about it felt different.

Here’s the twist: they originally wanted me as a backstage vocal coach…but I loved the format too much not to try my luck onstage.

My Blind Audition was intense, unforgettable—and wild enough that the show used MY footage to promote the entire first season.

I shared that season with so many fellow musicians, including someone I’d reunite with a decade later. The winner was Ivy Quainoo, who would go on to shine as Eliza in the German version of Hamilton.

If you’re enjoying this “Before I Was In Musicals…” series, stick around—there’s plenty more where this came from. Drop a comment if you remember that first season. 🎤✨
