Pep Organ Composition Competition 2023 ANNOUNCEMENT

Update (11/4/23: Closing Date has been extended to 5th of May).
Conditions of entry:

1. Compose a 3-5 minute organ work in the Classical Style (c.1740-1790). It should be no greater than an intermediate level of difficulty, and should be suitable for both concert and liturgical performance. The work must be unpublished. The work must be playable on a two manual organ; the work does not require the use of both manuals, but should include a pedal part, even if its use is minimal.

2. Pay the entry fee of $5 AUD through the link: https://bit.ly/PepOrganDonation. Include your full name on the payment.

3. Submit one composition as a PDF attachment to pepcompetition@gmail.com by May 5th 2023 at 11:59pm GMT. In the email, please include your full name, date of birth, country of residence, and why you are entering the competition. DO NOT include your name or details on the composition itself, since it will be judged anonymously. You may include an audio recording of your work, but it is not necessary.

4. The winners will be announced on Youtube a few days after the competition closes. After the results video is released, you are welcome to publish and share your work.

The judging panel will comprise of myself (Titus Grenyer), my wife Kim (for a non-musician perspective), and Ben Adler, violinist and Music Lecturer at UNSW (for a non-organist perspective).

First Prize will receive $300 AUD plus a unique silk embroidery made by Kim. Second Prize will receive $150, and Third Prize $50. The panel has the right to reserve awarding prizes if the standard of submissions does not meet expectations.

And– I will be PERFORMING some of the best works on the channel. This is a great opportunity for exposure, and for compensation for your compositional talent.
