2009 Suzuki SX4: DIY Oil Change How-To Video

It was time for our 2009 Suzuki SX4 to get its oil changed. The SX4 and its 2.0-liter engine was the same from 2007 to 2009, so this should apply to any of those years. The 2010—2013 2.0-liter engine engine was different, so this may not apply exactly for them. Check your manual regarding oil capacity and consult an auto parts store when buying a filter. For 2007—2009 the owner's manual says an oil and filter change requires 4.7 quarts, so I bought five quarts of the recommended 5w30. I added four initially, ran the motor to circulate the new oil, then checked the dipstick. I needed to add just over a half-quart to bring the level up to the full mark. The oil filter sits very close to the catalytic converter on this car, so you can't do this with the exhaust system even remotely hot. I would have had an easier time of it if I had an oil filter wrench that grabbed the end of the filter instead of the band type I had in my toolbox. There simply isn't much space to work in there. That said, it's all very doable.
