Finding the right size Rolex watch for your wrist may be more important than you think. The size of a Rolex case is not always down to taste. If a large Rolex watch swamps your wrist and a mid-sized Rolex watch gets lost on your arm, it just won’t look right, but surprisingly it’s often the last factor we consider before parting with our cash. For comparison, you can check out some of Rolex’s larger men’s watches here https://www.bobswatches.com/rolex/#/filter:custom_field_8:44mm/filter:custom_field_8:36mm

The majority of luxury wristwatches are sized by measuring from 9 o’clock to 3 o’clock. This doesn’t take into account the size of the crown. The 40mm Submariner 116610 therefore, will appear larger on the wrist given its real estate once the crown is included. The height and length (the distance between the tip of one lug right down to the tip of the lug that sits opposite) will also alter the look of the watch.

Some of the largest sized Rolex watches are those from the brand’s sports collection, including the Sea-Dweller, the Submariner (the largest measuring 41mm), the Yacht-Master, Daytona, and GMT-Master. Rolex later went on to create a 41mm Oyster Perpetual. The second-largest Rolex watches are the men’s category. These include the Milgauss, the Date just II, the Day-Date, Sky-Dweller, Cellini, and a Rolex Air-King. The next size down is Rolex’s mid-size and unisex watches like the Datejust, the Date, and the rest of the Oyster Perpetual family. The lady’s Datejust, President, Pearl-Master, and Yacht-Master are the smallest Rolex watches.

To break things down into simpler chunks, Rolex tends to bunch its designs for the male wrist into two main sizes; “mid-size” and “large size”. The mid-size family is home to 36, 37, and 39mm models which you can view here https://www.bobswatches.com/rolex/#/filter:custom_field_8:36mm/filter:custom_field_8:37mm/filter:custom_field_8:39mm

36mm
The Datejust 36 is one of Rolex’s most universally appealing designs. It’s an everyday classic and appeals to both male and female wrists. Even when Rolex launched the much larger 42mm model, the 36 remained a firm favorite for gentlemen with slender wrists. The Oyster Perpetual is equally as classic and offered in the same 36mm case size.

37mm and 39mm
The 37mm Yacht-Master is another unisex Rolex watch. For a lady, it’s a model that offers wrist presence. For a gentleman, it’s an unobtrusive model for smaller-sized wrists. It’s also the only smaller sized model from the sports range to offer the rotating bezel. The Cellini, Oyster Perpetual, and Explorer models are part of the 39mm family, not forgetting the 39mm Rolex Explorer with a much larger size compared to its previous 36mm size.

The “large size” category of Rolex watches are 40mm, 41mm, 42mm, 43mm, and 44mm which can be viewed here https://www.bobswatches.com/rolex/#/filter:custom_field_8:40mm/filter:custom_field_8:41mm/filter:custom_field_8:42mm/filter:custom_field_8:44mm

Although these are considered large by Rolex standards, they’re relatively unimposing compared to other luxury watch brands on the market. That said, the signature look of a Rolex watch, especially the “Super Case” variations, certainly look substantial on the wrist.

40mm
Of course, 40mm Rolex watches are the most broadly and widely available designs. Substantial on the wrist yet not too compact, the Submariner, Sea-Dweller, Explorer II, Daytona, and Yacht-Master are all available in a 40mm case size.

41mm and 42mm
The 41mm Rolex Datejust watch adheres to the same classic look as the 36mm version but offers a more contemporary sizing suitable for those with larger wrists. In the same way, the 42mm Sky-Dweller, Explorer II and Yacht-Master watches convey a functional style like their smaller siblings albeit with a wider diameter.

43mm
The Rolex Sea-Dweller available in the confident 43mm case is capable of exceptional water resistance that exceeds the capability of the Submariner by four times. Remedying the complaints associated with its former 40mm diameter, the most recent 43mm Sea-Dweller offers a wider case and better-balanced proportions.

43mm
Not only are the largest offerings from Rolex’s catalog the 44mm Yacht-Master II and the Deepsea Sea-Dweller, but they’re the most technologically advanced too. The Yacht-Master II offers an adjustable flyback countdown whereas the Deepsea Sea-Dweller has an exceptional water-resistant capability of 3, 900 meters – their large case necessary for their use both onshore and offshore.
