The plan was always to bring in Harry Kane for the favourable run of fixtures and with Sergio Agüero uncertain to be available, that move is a fairly straight forward one.

Although Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was also in mind, following his brace in the north London derby; he’s now scored 10 goals from his last 10 shots on target.

Raheem Sterling is another premium asset on the radar but after he completed 90 minutes against Bournemouth and with a key fixture coming up against Chelsea at the weekend, there’s perhaps a more significant risk of rotation in the midweek fixture against Watford.

The Spurs forward is a strong contender for the armband and he’s definitely out-performing the alternatives in terms of goal attempts, with a league-high total of 19 in the last 4 Gameweeks.

But he still looked a little bit deep against Arsenal; registering just 2 touches inside the box during the game and offering little besides the penalty goal.

So, for now, after an early withdrawal against Everton, the armband remains on Mohamed Salah for the trip to Burnley.

Liverpool have scored 22 goals in 9 league games against teams outside of the current top 6 places, at an average of 2.4 per game and Salah’s 11 goal involvements this season have all come during 8 of those 9 matches.
