Not a perfect comparison by any means, but in this video, a patient shares his experience with the Tecnis Synergy IOL from J&J, and the PanOptix IOL from Alcon after undergoing cataract surgery. During cataract surgery, the cloudy lens is replaced with a clear lens. He received a different lens implant in each eye, and he describes the quality of vision of each, side by side. He has excellent vision with each eye, but there are subtle differences between the lens implant technology. Of course, every patient is unique. But it's always helpful to get feedback from patients, especially when they are utilizing the newest technology. I hope this video is helpful for you. What is a Cataract and why do we implant artificial lenses?
A healthy eye has a clear lens. As we become older, that lens becomes cloudy. The cloudy lens is called a Cataract. In cataract surgery, the cloudy lens is removed and replaced with a clear artificial lens implant to improve the quality of vision.
