Why Islanders Fans Hate John Tavares

A heartfelt tribute to former Islanders captain John Tavares.

Please note at 5:37 where JT says "I didn't want to go to a team and feel like the team had to subtract what they had" that is not in response to the question preceding it (from Stan Fischler). This was an editing mistake in a rush to get this out, I understand it is somewhat misleading and I apologize. However, it was reported (as shown at 5:20) that Tavares did ask GM Garth Snow not to trade him during the season. He shouldn't have done that.

While Tavares could've been more non-committal in his language rather than try to appease the home fans, the team should've believed his actions (not signing an extension starting last summer) rather than his words ("I want to stay, I love it here"). Tavares handled it like an asshole, but the Islanders are the ones who fucked up.
