ONE THING I DESIRE

Psalm 27:4 One thing I ask from the LORD, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all
the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple.

PRIORITY - WHAT I DESIRE.
PURSUIT - HOW I PURSUE MY DESIRE.
PURPOSE - WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF MY DESIRE.

1. PRIORITY
Psalm 27:4 One thing I ask from the LORD… that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of
my life. The priority, one thing I ask.

2. PURSUIT
Pursuit is the action of chasing your priority. One needs to take action to chase your priority.
Psalm 27:4 One thing I ask from the LORD, this only do I seek:

a. Every of our pursuit must incline to God.
See what Jesus says about pursuit in Luke 14:16-20 16 Jesus replied: “A certain man was preparing a
great banquet and invited many guests. 17 At the time of the banquet he sent his servant to tell those who
had been invited, ‘Come, for everything is now ready.’ 18 “But they all alike began to make excuses. The
first said, ‘I have just bought a field, and I must go and see it. Please excuse me.’ 19 “Another said, ‘I have
just bought five yoke of oxen, and I’m on my way to try them out. Please excuse me.’ 20 “Still another said,
‘I just got married, so I can’t come.’

b. Pursuit for worship.
Pursuit of worship has two elements to it:

i. Public Worship.
ii. Personal Worship.

3. PURPOSE
What is the purpose for which I have this desire and pursuit.

“Satisfaction in Christ is satisfaction in everything.”

Do you think David had any other desires? Absolutely, he had other lessor desires. All of his
lessor desires were more satisfying when he had his first desire right. May you have your first
desire to God and may you find as a result that everything else becomes more satisfying.
