Feel Like Makin’ Love - Roberta Flack Cover
It’s Friday, you made it! For that you are entitled to a leisurely three minutes of bliss, care of the late great Roberta Flack. One of my favorites of hers, “Feel Like Makin’ Love” combines R & B, soul, jazz, and light pop into one smooth-as-butta classic. Come on, it was strenuous week, you deserve it!
Dropped on June 10th, 1974, a full nine months prior to the release of her album of the same title, the single went onto hold the #1 spot on the Billboard Top 100, making it her career’s third number one. Written and co-produced by Eugene McDaniels,
Roberta was also co-producer using the name, Robina Flake! The tune was covered by numerous other artists including Lou Rawls, Isaac Hayes, George Benson, and Johnny Mathis to name a few. Jackie and I couldn’t help but want to add our own vibe to it with Jackie doing all the vocals and me adding percussion.
