In 1948, Philippe Halsman, one of the most celebrated portrait photographers of the 20th century, collaborated with Salvador Dali, the eccentric and surrealist painter, to create a groundbreaking photograph called "Dali Atomicus." The image was a visual exploration of the concept of atomic energy, which was a hot topic at the time, and it remains an iconic example of the surrealist art movement.

The idea for the photograph came about during a conversation between Halsman and Dali, who were discussing the possibility of capturing an image that defied gravity. The result was a complex composition that involved suspending a number of objects, including a chair, a bucket of water, and three cats, in mid-air using hidden supports. Dali himself appears in the photograph, mid-leap, with his trademark mustache and a look of joyful abandon on his face.

The making of "Dali Atomicus" was a collaborative effort that showcased the creative genius of both Halsman and Dali. This video will take you through the fascinating story behind the making of this iconic image, and explore the artistic and technical challenges involved in creating it.
