FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS about the ASU Dance Team

|READ ME FOR MORE FAQS AND TIME STAMPS|
Over the past 4 years I have received a multitude of DMs about the ASU Dance Team so I thought it would be a good idea to make a video so that I could touch on the most frequent questions that I get. If I did not get to your question feel free to comment on the bottom of this video or DM me on Instagram!

~Other FAQs that I did not answer in the video!~
"What's it like being on the team? Team dynamic?"
A: This team is very unique and outgoing in itself. We are all super supportive and caring for one another. I would do anything for those girls. I suggest coming to a clinic and feeling the vibe for yourself!

"Can boys audition?"
A: ABSOLUTELY! We are not opposed to having a boy on the team!

"How many people make the team?"
A: This varies between 25-29. On average 27.

"Is ASU Dance Team/Spirit Squad under athletics?"
A: No, we are under the Marching Band or Athletic Bands. So while we do not pay for uniforms, shoes, and some practice attire, we do not have tutors, athletic trainers, our own practice facility, or scholarships. However, small scholarships are given to some veterans on the team.

"Team workout requirements?"
A: We do not have a trainer. Athletics in the past has provided us with some free memberships to EOS, however not everyone on the team goes to EOS. Some girls prefer workout alternatives like: Pure Barre, Cyclebar, CorePower, running , weight lifting etc. We do not have a specific workout requirement, other than being expected to run 2 miles in the beginning of the year. We value strong and athletic looking dancers, whatever you feel is sufficient and works for your body, you can feel free to do for the year. During football season, we sometimes have "Muscle Monday" or "Workout Wednesday" integrated into practice where we workout as a team.

~SOME OF MY TIPS~
1. Email the coach yourself, don't have your parents do it for you. Entering college, it is important for you to be able to advocate and speak for yourself. The coach is way more likely to respond to an excited upcoming college student rather than a parent.
2. Clean up your social media! Some teams and coaches (ASU Dance Team included) look at your social media when you are auditioning for the team! NO underaged drinking, red solo cup, inappropriate, or partying pictures should be on your instagram/twitter/Facebook/vsco/tiktok etc. This includes inappropriate tweets or statuses as well. As an ambassador for the University, we are expected to uphold a certain image not only on the field but on our social media as well. ASU Dance Team's social media motto is "Moddest is Hottest".
3. Keep an eye on our social media/emails that you may receive and read them thoroughly. Often times, I get questions that can be answered by re-reading information on our social media, website, or emails that were sent out. Before you email the coach your question, be sure the answer wasn't already published.
4. Don't be afraid to ask the girls on the team a question! We love to help y'all out and we were once in your shoes!
