本直播由農委會林務局支持，屏科大鳥類生態研究室執行。巢位地點在屏東鄉間一處山坡上，為避免干擾，不公開地點。

*黑鳶小檔案*
是台灣唯一有食腐習性的猛禽，但也會捕捉活體小動物，為二級保育類。居住在台灣平原鄉村和淺山環境，與人類活動重疊度高，早年「老鷹抓小雞」多半就是指黑鳶。繁殖季是每年2-5月，築巢在山坡的大樹上，巢內有很多垃圾裝飾是一大特色。每巢通常會下1-2顆蛋，孵卵期約30天，母鳥負責在巢中孵蛋和照顧幼鳥，公鳥則是外出打獵提供食物。幼鳥出生後約45日齡可離巢活動(預計在4月中旬)，離巢後仍會持續回到巢中進食一個月以上。
黑鳶以往遍布全台各地，成群在天上盤旋的景象讓許多老農都印象深刻，然而在1980年代因為劇毒農藥和毒鼠藥大量使用，黑鳶因撿食中毒死鳥和老鼠而間接中毒，短短數十年就瀕臨滅絕，在1990年代全台數量一度不到200隻，僅剩北部和南部有少量族群殘存。近年來因為劇毒農藥加保扶禁用、停辦全國農地滅鼠周以及友善農業的推廣，黑鳶數量緩慢回升，在去年(2020)底的全台同步調查達到840隻。

This Live Cam is supported by the Forest Bureau, Council of Agriculture, executed by Bird Ecology Lab of National Pingtung University of Science and Technology. The nest is located on a hillside in the county, the location is confidential to avoid disturbance.

*Facts about Black Kites*
Black kites are the only scavenging raptor in Taiwan, living in the counties and lowland mountains, overlapping greatly with human activities. The breeding season of black kites begins from February and ends in May, the parents usually build nests on big trees on hills, often with garbage as decorations. Clutch size mostly ranges 1-2 eggs, and hatches around 30 days. The female guard the nest and chicks while the male forages for food. Nestlings fledge around 45 days old, but will continue to feed in the nest for over a month.
Black kites were once very common in Taiwan, flocks of them soaring in the sky still remains a deep impression in the memories of old farmers. However, the wide use of the highly toxic carbofuran and anticoagulant rodenticides in the 1980s caused a dramatic decrease in the black kite population, with less than 200 individuals left in Taiwan in the 1990s, the crisis of secondary poisoning nearly drove them to extinction in mere decades.
With the banning of carbofuran and the cancelling of the nationwide anti-rodent campaign, and the promotion of eco-friendly farming, the population of black kites is increasing steadily, with 840 individuals in 2020.
