"Pat-a-Pan" on Celtic Harp (Loop Pedal) 🥁🎄 French Christmas Carol

"Pat-a-Pan (Willie Take Your Drum)" is a beautiful 17th century French (Burgundian) Christmas carol. The song, which is also called "Patapan," calls for the shepherds to play their simple folk instruments like flutes and drums to celebrate Christ's birth. The lyrics include onomatopoeic sounds like "tu-re-lu-re-lu" and "pat-a-pat-a-pan" to mimic instruments, much like the more well-known carol of "The Little Drummer Boy" with its "pa-rum-pa-pum-pum." In my version, I used a loop pedal to add more layers to my Celtic harp version.

Fun personal fact: This melody was one of the first harp songs I ever learned when I was around 10 years old. :)

Guillaume, prends ton tambourin,
Toi, prends ta flûte, Robin;
Au son de ces instruments,
Turelurelu, patapatapan,
Au son de ces instruments,
Je dirai Noël gaîment.

Willie, bring your little drum, Robin take your flute and come!
When we hear the music bright we will sing Noel this night,
When we hear the fife and drum, Christmas should be frolicsome.
