Funny music lesson for children listening to Beethoven
This is how we teach young children to listen to classical music. This is part of our programme of Music Talent Development at Stringnote, Fulham SW6, London. Listening to Beethoven 6th symphony, the Gathering Storm, children see classical music in a different way. The movements of the teachers' hands represent the different melodies and instrument in dialog. The "thunders" that Beethoven depict in this masterpiece are a good opportunity for us to represent a frightening surprise that will never stop finding very funny. That also help them to understand the craziness of Beethoven's contrasts between extreme tension and relaxation.
This exercise develop the listening skill of the children greatly. They prepare for the tense strike of the orchestra tutti. I try to convince them that nothing else will happen but they insist that it's not over yet and something else will come.
