Welcome to my rant on “The News of the World”. A very relevant movie about the post-civil war world holding a mirror to our own times that set my thoughts in motion. It is interesting to see how the worlds of 1865 and 2020 collide. How the people then steeped in their prejudices, seething with the extreme violence and hatred of the immediate post-civil war era, with little or no access to the truth but for the collective news readings and hear say gossip travelling in the wind, do not much differ from the extremely prejudiced lot of today steeped in their conspiracy theories, and an overabundance of news, different versions of the same news, their own convenient pieces of twisted truths.
