Australia: Blue Mountains

Located 2 hours inland from Sydney by train are the Blue Mountains, a huge mountainous region of New South Wales.

Possibly the best way to explore them is Scenic World at Katoomba. A theme park like experience within the Blue Mountains themselves.

Scenic World includes the world's steepest railway - an old mine train which has thankfully been converted into a comfortable ride down an old coal track. The cableway which takes you to the rainforest floor of the valley and The Skyway - a huge cable car that goes from one side of the mountains to the other with a glass floor for a breathtaking view!
