The Forgotten Logging Towns of the Pacific Northwestv | USA True History

The Forgotten Logging Towns of the Pacific Northwestv | USA True History
Between 1900 and 1920, massive logging operations transformed the Pacific Northwest into America’s lumber capital. Entire company towns appeared deep inside the forests of Washington and Oregon as workers cut down enormous Douglas fir and cedar trees to supply America’s growing cities, railroads, and factories.
But the boom did not last forever. Once nearby forests were exhausted, many logging companies shut down and moved away, leaving behind abandoned homes, rusted railroads, empty sawmills, and forgotten ghost towns hidden in the wilderness.
This short explores the rise and collapse of America’s abandoned lumber towns and how the early logging industry changed the economy and environment of the Pacific Northwest forever.
