AI Just Replaced Our Least Favourite Part of Dataverse
If you've ever sat there clicking through make.powerapps.com waiting for each table and column to load, you know the pain. We've been building Dataverse solutions for years and, honestly, the repetitive clicking to scaffold out a new schema was one of our biggest frustrations. That all changed when the Dataverse MCP server went GA and we connected it to GitHub Copilot in VS Code.
In this video, we walk you through exactly how to set it up; from enabling the MCP feature in your environment settings, to adding the server in VS Code, to authenticating and running your first prompts. We show you how to list tables, create records, and even build out a visitor management schema with relationships, choice columns, and sample data, all through natural language. The AI batches its calls intelligently, handles errors on the fly, and gives you a working structure in minutes instead of hours.
We also get real about the current limitations. No solution awareness, no publisher prefixing, duplicate column naming issues, and the managed environment question. This isn't production-ready yet, but the potential is massive, and pairing it with custom GitHub Copilot skills can bridge some of those gaps right now.
We made this to save you time and get you experimenting faster. Grab the setup docs here [https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-apps/maker/data-platform/data-platform-mcp] and check out our GitHub Copilot skills video here [https://youtu.be/rWr3G5i4kgs].
