Painting a loose bouquet of flowers with watercolor and mixed media

Making art can feel therapeutic. Just when we feel out of control, sometimes sitting down to create a piece without big expectations helps us to embrace the final result, no matter what it is.

Today’s art piece is inspired by a floral vase composition from Pinterest. First, I create very loose shapes with watercolor, drying the first layer, and then adding in details with colored pencils, color pastels, and a white pen. Using these mediums helps to let go of perfect watercolor shapes because the details will come later. Putting in the details also gives you a chance to express your emotions and hopefully feel grounded.
