NOTE 20 ULTRA by Samsung [Hardware Beast with Strange Compromises]

This phone has some of the best hardware of any phone out there, but Samsung made a few big compromises. In this video, I test the Note 20 Ultra to see if it is worth its high price tag.

AESTHETICS:
3 colors
Beautiful matte back
Matte back feels amazing
Very strong gorilla glass backz
6.9” screen - 120Hz QHD (but not simultaneous)
Square corners, round edges
Phone size, camera bump, and screen are all a serious flex
Premium matching S-Pen
Camera rings look clean

PHYSICAL:
FP sensor in an ideal location
Top of phone gets quite warm (I was just taking photos and noticed this)
Curved display edges = accidental touches despite palm rejection
Can’t use highest frame rate and resolution simultaneously
Camera wobble is insane… even with a case on
Use the ledge as a pop socket in a way
S-Pen now on left side
IP68 Water resistance
Excellent haptics
Awesome for car navigation, but it doesn’t fit in all phone holders

CAMERAS
108MP, 12, 12
5x optical zoom, but 50x zoom limit
8k video with new aspect ratios (all from telephoto camera)
Laser camera focus
Record audio with bluetooth mics
Bluetooth mics sound much better than they do in phone calls or other tests
Laser AF sensor (instead of depth camera)
What is the point of a 108MP sensor? - Pixel binning I guess
Hard focus hunting in single take mode (when nothing was happening)

S-PEN:
Auto straightening text
Save and sync notes across devices
Lag appears to be better when lines are not disconnected
FEATURES:
Spatial awareness sharing (airdrop)
S-pen has less latency (MUCH less - 9ms now - was 45ms last year)
UWB technology - for digital keys, finding devices, and nearby share

PEN LAG TEST (SLOW MOTION)

PROS:
Thin matte bezels and satin finish

CONS:
No earbuds in box
Extreme camera wobble unless you get a crazy case. Even the Samsung case still wobbles
Phone gets warm
$1300 is REALLY expensive!
Buttons on right side
Does not come with screen protector, as the S-series did

CONCLUSION:
One of the most loaded phones on the market, but you are really just paying for the better S-Pen, Larger display, and camera set
