"Variations for Brass Band" - Ralph Vaughan Williams
Black Dyke Mills Band, Geoffrey Brand, conductor. This work, by RVW, was the test piece for the National Brass Band Championship of Great Britain in 1957, which was won by Munn and Feltons Works Band, conducted by Harry Mortimer. The piece has subsequently been arranged for full wind band by Donald Hunsberger. i personally prefer the wind band version to the original brass band version, and I think RVW would have liked it.
