Neuroscientist: 'I Have NO Neurons'

Hoffman makes the stunning claim that as a cognitive neuroscientist, he has no neurons — unless they are observed. He argues that retinal ganglion cells, neurons, and all brain structures literally do not exist when they are not being perceived. They are not dormant or encoded — they simply do not exist. A neuroscientist looking inside a brain would see neurons, but those neurons would exist only in the neuroscientist's perception, and were never actually Hoffman's neurons.
