Caterpillar Challenger 65 Tractor on 5-22-2014

Operator Craig Robertson tills a field north of Kirkland, Illinois with his 1989 Cat Challenger. The small field was being finished for corn planting.

Robertson runs a diverse farming operation in northwestern DeKalb County. I hope to connect with him later this year for some more videos. My thanks for his cooperation on this day.

The Challenger 65 is powered by a 270 hp Caterpillar 6 cylinder diesel engine. From Wikipedia: "The Challenger Tractor was the world's first rubber tracked agriculture tractor, created by Caterpillar Inc. in 1986." So the model shown in the video is about 25 years old.
