Villa Adriana y Villa d'Este en Tivoli, Roma, Italia

Visitamos en las afueras de Tivoli (a una hora de Roma) la famosa Villa Adriana, construida por el emperador Adriano en el siglo II d.C., para recordarle los monumentos que admiró durante sus viajes por Grecia y Egipto. Ahora la villa está en ruinas aunque deja entrever su grandiosidad y belleza originales del complejo. Las piscinas y grutas paisajísticas han influido en el diseño de jardines posteriores a lo largo de los siglos. La Villa Adriana lamentablemente esta en ruinas, pero se puede apreciar lo magnifica que debe haber sido hace 18 siglos.

La villa fue creada en Tibur (actual Tívoli) como lugar de retiro de Roma por el emperador Adriano en el siglo II. Se decía que a Adriano le disgustaba el palacio del monte Palatino de Roma, lo que le llevó a construir este lugar de retiro, donde pasó los últimos años de su vida y desde donde gobernó el imperio. Una gran corte, por lo tanto, vivió allí de manera permanente. Un servicio postal los tenía en comunicación con Roma.

We visited on the outskirts of Tivoli (about an hour from Rome) the famous Villa Adriana, built by Emperor Hadrian in the second century AD, the monuments reminding admired during his travels in Greece and Egypt.
