Life, learning and the Filipino martial arts | Felipe Jocano Jr. | TEDxDiliman

This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Felipe "Bot" Jocano Jr. has spent 27 years of his life learning and teaching arnis. Here, he shares his thoughts on why he has such a passion for the art, and what arnis can teach us about what it means to be Filipino.

Bot Jocano is an Assistant Professor of Anthropology at the University of the Philippines Diliman. Outside the academe, he provides consulting services to private groups on issues of culture and management, and on the use the Filipino culture in the workplace.
About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
