The Art of Synthesis and the Greater Bay Area

Hong Kong with its humble beginnings being the textile manufacturing hub, today, it is an incubation platform in global design stage. Hong Kong has a unique quality for being both local and global attracting designers from different design disciplines from all over the world to come together and collaborate. In society today, we learn that through collaboration, we can create experiences beyond anything we can do as an individual.

At this point, I want to showcase spatial design that manifests from the collaboration of two cities within the Greater Bay Area. Shenzhen as the Tech Capital of China and Hong Kong as the Incubator for design.

With synergy of the 2 cities with like minds, the design concept evolved from a speculative idea into a tangible reality and we call this space the hanging gardens

The purpose of C Future Lab was a creative attempt to experiment the future. The Hanging Gardens was designed to allow nature to interact with the interior space connecting to the human interface to what form will this interface take is very much up to our imagination

In April 2021 during Shenzhen Fashion week, a number of creative contemporary fashion designers exhibited their work at C Future Lab.

The work by Iris Van Harpen was strategically place at the entrance next to the Cell by Ross Lovegrove that attracted a lot of attention.

At the Hanging Gardens, we took the opportunity to showcase a designer whose work is known to be inspired by nature. Victor Wang enjoys collaborative works and is 2021-2 collection uses natural shapes to create an evening dress inspired by flower petals. When the garment is placed within the Hanging Gardens, it creates a unique synergy where the nature inspired space becomes an extension of the garment a true example of the art of synthesis.
