BMCU 370B is Better Than AMS Lite | The Best Bambu Lab A1 / A1 Mini Upgrade

Is the AMS Lite too expensive or too bulky for your setup? I finally installed the BMCU 370B—a light-weight, budget-friendly alternative for the Bambu Lab A1 and A1 Mini.

In this video, I walk you through the unboxing, installation, and the critical firmware downgrade process that you MUST do. I also show how it integrates seamlessly with my DIY cereal container dry boxes. If you are tight on space or just want to save money, this might be the upgrade you need.

💰 COST BREAKDOWN (Imported to India)
• BMCU Unit: $56 USD (~₹4,750) • Shipping: $42 USD (~₹3,550) • Total: ~$98 USD 💡 Buying Tip: To offset the shipping cost, I added 4x Hardened Steel Nozzles (0.2 - 0.8mm) to the order. They cost me only ₹590 each (vs ₹1,200+ locally). The 0.8mm is tested and works perfectly!

✅ PROS:
Saves ₹10,000+ compared to AMS Lite standalone.
Zero desk footprint (Wall mountable).
Hall Effect sensors = Smooth auto-feeding.
Works with A1 & A1 Mini out of the box (with right firmware downgrade)

⚠️ CONS / THINGS TO KNOW:
Firmware: You MUST downgrade your printer to v01.05.00.00 (shown in video).
[UPDATE] - Works with 1.07 Firmware.

Feeding: Sometimes requires a manual "nudge" to get past the PTFE curve.
Power Loss: If power cuts before retraction, you may need to manually cut/clear filament.

Note on Firmware:
At the time of this video, the BMCU requires Bambu Lab Firmware version 01.05.00.00. I show you exactly how to downgrade safely using the Bambu Handy App in this video. Do NOT update your printer until the BMCU firmware supports newer versions!
[Update] - Works with latest firmware 1.07 Now.
