The Thing Inside the Temple | Vietnamese Horror Story

The temple at the edge of my village has been abandoned for forty years. The monks left overnight. No one knows why. The elders refuse to speak of it. But last week, my little brother dared me to go inside. I walked through the broken gates. I crossed the courtyard where the banyan roots have swallowed the stone floor. And when I reached the main hall, I saw that the altar was still intact. The candles were still burning. The incense was still smoking. Someone—or something—has been keeping the temple alive. Then I heard footsteps behind me. Not human footsteps. The sound of something dragging itself across the floor. When I turned around, the statue of the Buddha was facing the other way.
