Tony Lovello (Liberace of the Accordion) in Concert, March 2000
Tony Lovello 1932-2017 is known as the "Liberace of the Accordion". He is famous for his bellows shake, razzle-dazzle rapid runs & glissandos. The National Accordion Association called him "the entertainer's entertainer". After a 20 year break from entertaining, Tony is just coming out of retirement at around 1998. For the next almost 20 years he has performed, taught, wrote music & recorded over 20 albums.
My son and I were privileged & honored to meet this giant of a talent, & were asked to record his 2 energetic concerts that weekend in 2000. I created a DVD & here it is for all to enjoy. The highlight of the DVD is Malaguena, Lecuona (16:15) where he shakes the hell out of his Petosa accordion.
