Midland Model 79-892 C.W. McCall signature series on the bench. 

Today on the bench, we have a Midland international model 79–892 CB radio side band C.W McCall signature series edition from February 1977 deep in the hay day of civilian band history.

This unit arrived in my workshop as a basket case box of parts that was too good to part out, but had many modifications, both useful and not so useful so I decided to spend a little time, converting it back to factory, removing expanded channels, as well as other questionable modifications that led to this unit no longer functioning correctly

CW McCall was a country music artist mostly known for rebel country and such hits as convoy landing him popularity in many CB radio and truck driving movies musical score

In this video, I will be talking briefly about Midland as a company as well as CW McCall and the basic features that this particular model 79–892 offers, including some of its odd features overall this radio offers a unique piece of history from the late 70s that is still useful today
