How to Make Steak & Sweet Potato Stew FOR DOGS! | Homemade Dog Food Recipe | RECIPE

Steak and Sweet Potato Stew for Dogs Recipe

INGREDIENTS

3 pounds beef chuck, or any beef you would use for stew (or steak, if your doggy is feeling extra fancy)
3 tbsp coconut oil
2 celery stalks, thinly sliced
2 apples, peeled, cored and cut into ½ inch chunks
¼ cup rice flour
6 cups beef broth
3 tbsp fresh curly parsley, finely chopped, plus extra for garnish
1 cup brown rice, uncooked
4 carrots, sliced into 1 inch-long chunks
1 pound sweet potatoes, peeled and sliced into 1 inch cubes
½ cup frozen peas

DIRECTIONS

1. Pat the steak dry with a paper towel, then into 1 1/2 – inch pieces. If your dog is on the smaller side, you can cut it into smaller pieces if you like.
2. Set a heavy soup pot to medium high heat and add the coconut oil. Add the steak in 2-3 batches, browning the chunks on all sides. Transfer the steak to a plate and set aside.
3. Add the celery and apples to the pot and cook for 5 minutes, until soft. The celery and apple will absorb the residual steak flavors and will make your pup very happy!
4. Return the steak to the pan and add the rice flour. Stir until the flour has dissolved, about 2 minutes.
5. Add the beef broth and parsley. Mix well. Bring the pot to a boil, then cover with a lid and place the pot into the oven.
6. Braise the meat at 325F for 2 hours. Then add the rice, carrots, sweet potatoes and frozen peas. Cover the pot and return it to the oven and cook for 1 additional hour.
7. Allow the stew to cool completely, then garnish with some more parsley and feed to your dog!
