Russia Sent 54,000 Drones to Break Ukraine. Ukraine Built This to Stop Them — And It Cost $500

Russia had a plan: flood Ukrainian skies with thousands of cheap Shahed drones every month, drain Ukraine's missile stockpiles, and grind the country into submission — one intercept at a time. At $500,000 per missile fired at a $30,000 drone, the math was slowly winning the war for Moscow.
Then Ukraine did something nobody saw coming.
They took a 1969 Soviet-era cargo plane — the Antonov AN-28 — fitted it with an American M134 minigun, mounted AI-guided interceptor drones under its wings, and sent a crew of civilian volunteers into the night sky to hunt Russia's drones down for $500 a kill.
222 confirmed minigun kills. 3,000+ drone intercepts by the P1-Sun interceptor alone. A 95% success rate for the Merops AS3. And a cost exchange ratio of up to 100-to-1 in Ukraine's favor.
The Pentagon is now studying how to replicate it. Lithuania bought 48 units in 8 days. The UK is manufacturing Ukrainian interceptors on home soil. And the US Army has deployed the same system to the Middle East.
In this video, we break down exactly how Ukraine built the most cost-effective air defense platform in any active conflict on Earth — with a plane most militaries would have scrapped decades ago.
