Project #2 | Dockerize a Node.js App | #Docker | Build, Containerize & Run a Node API in Minutes

In Project 2 of my Docker Project Series, I containerized a simple Node.js Express API using Docker and ran it as a containerized application.

This project focuses on building strong Docker fundamentals by learning how to package a backend application into a portable container that can run anywhere.

Key concepts covered in this project:

✅ Creating a simple Node.js Express API
✅ Writing a Dockerfile from scratch
✅ Understanding Docker image layers & caching
✅ Building a Docker image with docker build
✅ Running containers with port mapping
✅ Using .dockerignore to optimize images
✅ Accessing the app from the browser via Docker container

By the end of this project, the Node.js app runs fully inside Docker and can be accessed at:

http://localhost:3000

This is part of my hands-on Docker learning journey, where I’m building practical projects to master containerization and DevOps fundamentals.
